Yesterday another bunch of play off games was played by clubs that have Dutchies on their roster.
Game nr. 2 between the Columbus Clippers and the Norfolk Tides was suspended after two full innings due to rainfall. Sharlon Schoop didn’t have his at bat yet. The score was 0-0 and both teams got one basehit.
The Oklahoma City lost game two of the semi final of the Pacific Coast League. They fell 7-1 to the Round Rock Express.
Shawn Zarraga didn’t manage to get a basehit for the second game in a row. He went 0 for 4. A six run first inning was enough for Round Rock to get within one win of the PCL Championship series.
Christopher Garia did a nice job at bat in the Mavericks 6-5 win over Stockton. In five at bats he collected two hits, one of them a double to left field in the bottom of the third that eventually made him score the Mavs’ second run of the game.
After taking a 5-1 lead, the Mavs got into trouble as the JetHawks scored three runs in the seventh frame. The Mavs scored a much needed insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a solo shot hit by David Lyon. That it was much needed, became clear in the top of the ninth when the JetHawks scored one more run. With the series tied, the decisive game between the two teams will be played tonight in Adelanto (home of High Desert).
A Full Season
I forgot to mention the series between the Peoria Chiefs and the Kane County Cougars. In the first game Peoria beat the Cougars 2-1. Darren Seferina went 0 for 4. Yesterday’s game ended with a Chiefs victory as well. Darren went 2 for 4 and struck out twice. He was part of two double plays: 7-4 and 4-6-3.
Thanks to this win, the Chiefs advance to the next round of the play offs in which they will take on the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
A Short Season
The first game between the Williamsport CrossCutters and the West Virginia Black Bears was rained out, so it was played yesterday. Danny Arribas had a big share in the 2-1 victory of the Black Bears. With a lead off solo blast in the second inning he drove himself in for the opening run. Danny played as DH and went 1 for 4. Whoever will win this series, they will have to face the Staten Island Yankees, who swept their opponent in two games.
After having won the first game, the Billings Mustangs fell 7-5 to the Missoula Osprey, so a third and decisive game is necessary. Once again Curacaoan Jonathan Martijn didn’t play.
