Recently you could read that Jason Standridge was drawing the attention of the Chiba Lotte Marines. The American starting pitcher wasn’t given a contract extension by the Softbank Hawks as they are rather thick in their starting pitchers. This move may mean that Dutch starter Rick van den Hurk will have a spot in the starting rotation next year.
Anyhow, the Chiba Lotte Marines showed their interest in the 37-year old pitcher as they were in need of a starting pitcher. Standridge went 10-7 with a 3.74 ERA in 23 starts.
Apparently the Marines made him the best offer as they reportedly signed him to a one year deal worth $800,000 including a club option. Several other clubs were also looking to sign the right hander.
Standridge will likely be in the rotation with Ayumu Ishikawa, Hideaki Wakui and Yuta Omine.
The news about the acquisition of Standridge yet has to be confirmed by the club.
