After his successful debut with the Uni President 7-Eleven Lions, Curacao native Jair Jurrjens was hit hard in his second start today.
In the game vs the Lamigo Monkeys he lasted only four innings in which he struggled mightily as he walked three, fanned three, gave up nine hits (one homerun) and allowed eight runs of which seven were earned.
In the first inning Jair already struggled with his control as he gave up five runs. Jair managed to retire the first batter on a ground out to first base, but then gave up a two triples and a couple of singles. He wasn’t helped by his defense either as they committed an error that led to an extra run.
Despite the big lead of the Monkeys, the Lions did not give up as they fought their way back to an 11-7 score in the eighth inning. But that was all that the Lions could.
After all a tough loss for Jair, who is now 1-1 with a 6.80 ERA in two starts.
