Hainley Statia appointed to Brew Crew minor league coaching staff

In the mean time this is old news, but nowhere in the Dutch press there was given any attention to this feat so far.

Long time Brewers farmhand Hainley Statia has been added to the coaching staff of one of the Brewers’ minor league teams; in this case the Arizona Brewers. Hainley will become one of the base coaches for the team.

Hainley started his career with the Angels as they drafted him in the ninth round of the 2004 draft. He played his first games with the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. Later in 2005 he was moved up to Rancho Cucamonga (A Advanced California League). Until 2011 Statia moved up from A Full Season to AAA where he played with the Salt Lake Bees in 2010. After he became a minor league free agent after 2010, Hainley signed with the Brewers. In the Brewers’ organization, he spent most time at AA Huntsville (now Biloxi), but in 2012 the Brewers sent him to the Nashville Sounds for the first time. With the Sounds he played 49 games in which he collected 36 hits in 129 at bats (.279). In 2013 Hainley spent all season with the Sounds. In that season his batting average sunk to .241.
In 2014 he spent his final year with the Brewers as he split the season between Huntsville and Nashville. With the Stars he hit .278 while he hit .262 with the Sounds.

Hainley Statia during the 2014 European Cup

In the meantime Hainley had several outings with the Dutch national team during several international tournaments. During the last European Cup in 2014, Hainley hit .286 with a .714 slugging percentage and a .375 on base percentage. He hit one double, one triple and three homeruns in that tournament.

In the upcoming European Cup, held in Hoofddorp in the Netherlands, Hainley will also be part of team Kingdom of the Netherlands, that will defend its European title. For Hainley this European Cup will be a farewell tour before retiring as an active player for good.
