In the meantime this is very old news, but I haven’t read about it on other Dutch baseball websites, except an Aruban sports website where I bumped into the article. The Washington Nationals have released Randolph Oduber from Aruba, early April. The reason for his release wasn’t mentioned.
During this year’s Spring Training, Randolph was called up for a few games with the Nationals MLB squad. In two games and two at bats, the Aruban outfielder collected one basehit.
During the off season he participated with team Kingdom of the Netherlands in the inaugural Premier 12 tournament. At the end of that tourney, he was named best outfielder. During the Premier 12 Randolph hit twelve hits out of 24 at bats, driving in seven and scoring seven. Of those twelve hits, three were doubles and two were homeruns. He showed some speed as well as he stole three bases.
Last year he missed the biggest part of the season due to a broken ankle.
In the five years with the Nationals he was called up three times to the MLB squad during Spring Training. During his five years with the Nats he spent time at Rookie level, A Full Seasaon, A Advanced and AA. He hit a combined .268.
