In the final game of the Day, the Kingdom of the Netherlands hosted the Czech Republic.
After the hard fought victory against Russia, the Dutch had to settle a score.
In this game, Kalian Sams was the story of the game. He gave the Dutch a 3-0 lead thanks to a homerun to left field in the first inning.
In the bottom of the third, Kalian Sams hit another homerun to the opposite field; this time a solo shot.
In the fifth Sams hit another three run shot, again to left field. Only thanks to Sams’ homeruns the Dutch led 7-0.
The other three runs were scored in the second inning when Curt Smith singled home
Roger Bernadina and Stijn van der Meer and in the sixth when Curt Smith singled to left field and drove in Randolph Oduber for the final run of the game.
Lars Huijer earned the win for the Dutch. In six innings he gave up two hits, two walks and struck out six. Tomas Duffek took the loss. In four innings he gave up six hits on nine hits. He walked one and struck out as many.
Best hitter for Kingdom of the Netherlands was Curt Smith, who went 4 for 4 with three RBI and two runs scored. But Kalian Sams drove in the most runs with seven as he hit three homeruns out of three at bats.
