Dutch hoofdklasse club Pickles UVV has acquired a new manager. After Ferenc Jongejan hung up his coaching spikes at the end of the 2016 season, the club needed to look for a new skipper. They found their man in Ty Eriksen.
Despite his young age (32) Erikson has quite some experience as a manager/coach.
He assisted clubs and national teams around Europe in baseball operations and instructional camps.Ty was first base coach for the Austrian national team. He was also first base coach and defense coach of the Israel national team.
He also is scout for the Baltimore Orioles. In Switzerland, Ty played for the Therwil Flyers, the ten-time Swiss champion.
Last season Ty was player/coach for the Munich-Haar Disciples. As a player he roams the outfield. As a player he also played in the Israel Baseball League in 2007 (the inaugural year of the league) for the Netanya Tigers.
During his college years, Ty played for Division III Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
Before moving to Israel, Ty played eleven games for the Munich Haar Disciples in 2006. He batted .590 in that season in which the club did not play in the German Major League yet.
Ty is the offspring of a real baseball family as his uncle reportedly played for an MLB organization and another uncle of his was an All-American baseball player.
