A few weeks ago you could read here that the CPBL, KBO and NPB were discussing a new championship for Asian baseball clubs. This championship would replace the defunct Asia Series and would host the champions of the aforementioned leagues.
According to the Twitter account of the CPBL, the championship will be played from November 17 through November 19 and only the champions of the aforementioned leagues will participate.
The defunct Asia Series also hosted the winner of the Australian Baseball League and the winner of the European Champions Cup.
According to the website of Samurai Japan, the schedule will be as follows:
16 days qualifying (A vs. B)
17 days qualifying (B vs. C)
18 days qualifying (C vs. A)
19 days finals (first qualifying place vs. second qualifying place)
The tournament will be played at the Tokyo Dome. The organizers agreed on a second edition already. This second edition will be played in 2021.
So after seven previous editions, there won’t be a rerun of the Asia Series as it will be replaced by the Asia Professional Baseball Championship.
