Decisive and exciting weekend in ABL ahead

This weekend (starting tomorrow) will be a decisive weekend in the ABL.
The Melbourne Aces have clinched a playoff spot already but in theory,  the Adelaide Bite can catch them and clinch a spot in the championship series. And of coursethere will be the clash between the Canberra Cavalry and the Brisbane Bandits for a playoff spot.

The Melbourne Aces (24-12) will have the easiest opponent of them all in the Perth Heat (12-24). The Adelaide Bite (20-16) doesn’t have a real tough opponent in the Sydney BlueSox (14-21).

The most exciting series will be the one between the Canberra Cavalry (19-17) hosting the Brisbane Bandits (18-17).  The Bandits have played one game less due to a rain out. If they win three out of four they are safe with a 21-18 record. But if the series ends in a tie, the Bandits will finish with a 20-19 record and the Cavalry will finish with a 21-19 record. In that case, the rained out game will be a decisive factor as it needs to be played.

Even though the Perth Heat played better in the past few weeks, it is unlikely that they can keep Melbourne from clinching a spot in the championship series. Perth must win all games and even then, the Adelaide Bite has to sweep the Sydney BlueSox. But if this may happen, the Bite will reach the championship series as the head-to-head result between the Bite and the Aces is 7-1 in games.

Only the Aces seem to be safe. But the Bite can still be caught by the Cavalry and even the Bandits. But in that case, the Bite must lose all games vs Sydney, which is highly unlikely.

With the current standings, literally everything is still possible. There is an exciting ABL weekend ahead.
