Thanks to an invitation from Atsushi Furutachi, a European team with players younger than 19-years old, will head to Japan later this year.

Europe will be represented by a 15-man roster that will play against top level high school players from October 23 through November 4. The ten day trip will take place in Fukuoka, home of the Softbank Hawks. Around 8-9 games will be played. A roster of fifteen players may look a bit thin, but the intention is that players can play multiple positions.

Tryouts for this magnificent trip will be held on April 11 and 12 in Cologne during several events that the Cologne Cardinals will organize.
The costs of the trip vary from €1,800 – €2,000 depending on flight costs. The costs will cover the flight, equipment and a few organizational costs.

A similar trip was made in 2014 with a team that contained twelve players. The organisers have made other like this possible. In 2015 and 2016 a European delegation went to the USA to play an international tournament against teams from the USA and Japan.
The team that took the last trip in 2016 contained players from Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The original tour was part of the EBCA (European Baseball Coaches Association), but the organizing committee separated 2011. In total fourteen trips have been made of which six were made to Japan (the third to Fukuoka).
