Dutch clinch tie vs LG Twins

In the first of two practice games vs the LG Twins, team Kingdom of the Netherlands could not clinch a victory, neither did it lose the game. In what must have been an attractive game to see, as twelve runs were scored, the Dutch drew a 6-6 tie.

Starting pitcher of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Diegomar Markwell, cruised through No automatic alt text available.the first two innings. In a post outing interview, Markwell said that he was satisfied with his outing and that he is seeing progress. In the third inning, he was replaced by Juan Carlos Sulbaran, who gave up two basehits. When Dashenko Ricardo could not hang on to one of his pitches, the LG Twins took a 1-0 lead. Dashenko Ricardo bowled a runner off third base for the final out of the inning.

But one inning later, the Dutch would get runners on the corners after a fielding error, a HBP and a force out at second before Yurendell deCaster singled home the tying run. Then Curt Smith doubled on a fly ball to center field to drive in Stijn van der Meer and DeCaster for the 3-1 lead.

The LG Twins would claw their way back into the game. Juan Carlos Sulbaran struggled in the top of the fourth as he gave up two singles, a HBP and a double to allow the Twins to tie the game. Sulbaran was pulled in favor of Jim Ploeger. With runners in scoring position, Ploeger managed to get two outs before Sulbaran was brought back into the game again. Strange move? Perhaps, but since this was a practice game, it was possible to do so. Sulbaran managed to record the final out on a 4-3 play, to get out of the inning. Thanks to good pitching of Jim Ploeger, the Koreans were not able to take the lead, despite having runners in scoring position.

Mike Bolsenbroek took over in the fifth inning and retired the side in that frame and thanks to Sharlon Schoop, who gave him a hand by catching a fly ball on the warning track in left field, Bolsenbroek works his way through the sixth inning without any damage as well.
After Sharlon Schoop drove in the go-ahead run with a ground-rule double in the bottom of the seventh, Stijn van der Meer extended the lead with a run on a sac fly by Curt Smit. The third run of the inning was scored on a single by Dwayne Kemp.

But once again, the Twins would fight their way back into the game. With Orlando Yntema on the mound in the seventh inning, the Koreans scored a run, followed by two more in the top of the eighth after Tom Stuifbergen had taken over. A nice defensive play by Gianfranco Wawoe kept the Twins from scoring the go-ahead run from second base.

As neither team did not score in the ninth inning, the game finished as a tie.

For the third game in a row, the Dutch hit very well.  Yurendell deCaster collected four basehits Afbeeldingsresultaat voor score66today. Several pitchers showed that they can be relied on as well, despite the six runs that were allowed.
