Dutchies around the world, Asia Part 3

Rick van den Hurk finally got his start today. He was penciled to start on April 1st but due to a blister on his right index finger, the start was pushed back.

In the first two innings, Rick van den Hurk kept the lineup of the Rakuten Golden Eagles in check rather well as he pitched a 1-2-3 first frame and faced four hitters in the second.
But in the third inning, with two outs, Carlos Peguero launched a two run homerun to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead. The Softbank Hawks cut Rakuten’s lead in half in the fourth as they scored on Alfredo Despaigne’s single.

Eventually, Rick lasted five innings in which he gave up two runs on five hits. He walked two and fanned two and took the loss as the Softbank Hawks fell to the Rakuten Golden Eagles 3-1.

Wladimir Balentien was fined for his part in the bench-clearing brawl with the Hanshin Tigers on Tuesday, April 4.  In that game, Balentien hit a towering home run that helped the Yakult Swallows to beat the Tigers 3-1. Today Wladimir went 1 for 4 with a walk and three strikeouts in the 5-4 loss in eleven innings against the Hanshin Tigers.
So far, Wladimir Balentien has a .278 batting average.

Roger Bernadina was pulled from a game Tuesday due to intestinal infection. Today he was in the lineup again. Vs the SK Wyverns, Roger did well at the plate as he went 2 for 5 with two infield hits and a HBP as he batted leadoff once again.  The Kia Tigers beat the Wyverns 6-4.
