Due to obligations next week in the European Champions Cup, L&D Amsterdam Pirates took on DSS last night. The game was originally scheduled to be played coming Sunday. The Amsterdam-based team took revenge for the loss vs DSS on Thursday.
DSS 1 – 12 L&D Amsterdam Pirates
With a three-run first inning and a two-run second, Pirates took a commanding five-run lead early in the game as Pirates’ hitters jumped on DSS pitcher Lars Vogelaar.
Rob Cordemans allowed the sole run of DSS in the second inning when Djewi Appelman, who had gotten on base on a triple to right center field, scored on Mitchel Dautzenberg’s single to left center field.
Vogelaar pitched to three hitters in the fifth inning before he was pulled. Back-to-back-to-back doubles by Kenny Berkenbosch, Linoy Croes and Patrick Bok, drove in two runs.
Robyn Clara took over on the mound. But Clara struggled in the fifth as he gave up back-to-back singles and threw back-to-back wild pitches and thus allowed three more runs in the fifth.
A double to left center field by Norbert Jongerius in the sixth inning, drove in two more runs for Pirates to reach the final score of 12-1.
Rob Cordemans earned the win. He pitched five innings in which he gave up one run on three hits and a walk and struck out nine.
Lars Vogelaar took the loss. In four innings and three hitters faced in the fifth inning, he gave up eight runs (six earned) on eleven hits and a walk and struck out one.
Best hitter for L&D Amsterdam Pirates was Nick Urbanus, who went 3 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored.
