Today, the press officer of Curaçao Neptunus released a press release about one of the players of the club. The KNBSB (Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation) has informed the club Urving Kemp has been suspended for the time being.
Urving is the younger brother of Neptunus’ infielder Dwayne Kemp.
The press release stated that Urving Kemp has been suspended because of PED use. Kemp tested positive with a drug test after a game of May 11 vs Hoofddorp Pioniers. The suspension will start right away.
Urving Kemp, who is not a regular in the starting lineups of Curaçao Neptunus, currently has a .262 batting average with two doubles and nine RBI. Urving started in ten of the seventeen games that Neptunus played so far. He has a slugging percentage of .310 and an on-base-percentage of .353. His defense is pretty solid as he committed only one error so far this season.
The board of the club will study the result of the drug test and will wait for the sentence implemented by the KNBSB. When more information is available, the board will look whether it will take further steps.
Urving will also wait for the results of the drug test. Until then he will remain unavailable for any comment.
