It starts to get annoying 😉 , but last night Dutch pitcher Tom de Blok had another great performance for the West Michigan WhiteCaps. Also thanks to this performance, the WhiteCaps beat the Lake County Captains 3-0.
After his last appearance, which wasn’t a start but a three inning relief appearance, this one was of sheer quality again. In the previous outing, Tom gave up one hit on four hits as he struck out one.
Last night, Tom lasted 6.2 shutout innings in which he allowed only three hits. Tom did not walk a batter but struck out eight, lowering his Midwest League ERA to 0.92. His WHIP now stands at a ridiculously low 0.76. All this over seventeen games of which five were starts.
In the first three innings, Tom retired the side before he gave up his first hit in the fourth, a single to right field, hit by Mitch Longo.
The fifth and sixth frames were 1-2-3 innings again before he allowed runners on first and second. With two outs he was replaced by Zac Houston, who pitched 2.1 no-hit innings in which he gave up two walks and fanned five.
Tom faced 23 batters, threw 96 pitches of which 66 were called for strikes. Tom improved to 3-0 with the West Michigan WhiteCaps.
