Today Roger Bernadina hit his 20th home run of the season. With this dinger he accomplished a feat not many have done: He became the 45th player in the KBO to hit 20 home runs and stole 20 bases.
In fact, Roger has stolen 21 bases. He reached the 20-stolen base mark on July 23 vs the Lotte Giants. Despite his 20th home run today, the Kia Tigers fell 3-7 to the Hanwha Eagles.
Roger is red hot lately. He came off a slow start this season but as the season went on, his batting average rose steadily. In the last ten games, Roger went 4 for 4 twice, 2 for 4 and 2 for 5 once and hit a home run in his last three games.
Bernadina is hitting .322 so far this season with a .389 OBP, a .558 Slugging percentage and a .947 OPS. Next to the 20 home runs, Roger has hit 19 doubles and six triples.
With runners in scoring position, Roger is even hitting a tad better with .330. In yesterday’s game vs the KT Wiz, Roger hit for the cycle.
Roger’s team, the Kia Tigers are leading the KBO with a 64-35 record with a five game lead over the NC Dinos.
But Roger is not only swinging the bat well. His defense is pretty sound as well as the vid below shows.
