Last night several Dutchies made an appearance in playoff games of several independent minor leagues. Curt Smit, Randolph Oduber and Dashenko Ricardo played with the Lincoln SaltDogs in the American Association’s semi final and Kalian Sams had a good appearance with the Quebec Capitales in the CanAm League’s semi final.
After a clear victory over the Winnipeg GoldEyes, the Lincoln SaltDogs did not come close to the victory last night as they lost 6-2. In the series, the SaltDogs now trail 2-1.
By the time the SaltDogs scored their first run, in the sixth inning, they were trailing 6-0 already. Curt Smith went 1 for 4, Randolph Oduber went 0 for 3 and Dashenko Ricardo was a substitute behind the plate and did not get an at bat.
Kalian Sams made his first appearance in the CanAm playoffs this year as he was bothered by some leg injury. With a 6-1 victory Kalian’s team, the Quebec Capitales, swept the Sussex County Miners for a spot in the CanAm League’s championship series.
In four plate appearances, Kalian collected two doubles and drew a walk and he scored twice. Both teams collected eight hits but clearly, the Capitales were far more effective.
