Rangers’ injury bug also hits Jurickson Profar

In a freak accident, Rangers utility player Jurickson Profar got injured yesterday. Even though Profar will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, it is believed he is suffering from a concussion.

In this link, the accident can be seen.

During the bottom of the second inning of the game vs the Tampa Bay Rays, Profar collided with base runner Mallex Smith and slammed with his head into the ground. Profar laid motionless for several seconds before he was accompanied off the field by the Rangers’ staff.

The Rangers posted the following Tweet on the accident.

Until the re-evaluation, Profar stays in the concussion protocol. Profar may be the next of a long list of injured players. Texas has lost starters Delino DeShields, Rougned Odor, Elvis Andrus and Doug Fister to the DL with different injuries already.

So far, Profars career has been riddled by stays on the DL, most of the time due to a long and nagging injury to his throwing arm. After spending most of the time at AAA last year, the 25-year old Curaçaoan made the Opening Day roster this year.
