D-Backs and Aces extend PDC

Through Twitter, the Reno Aces announced the extension of their Player Development Contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks through the 2020 season.

Even though the Diamondbacks signed a four-year extension in 2012 prefered to sign two-year deals with this extension and the previous one. The two clubs cooperate since 1998 when the Aces still played in Tucson as the Sidewinders.

Next to a big number of players that wore the Aces jersey in a rehab stint, the Aces have seen many talented prospects come through Greater Nevada Field, the club’s home field.
Players like Trevor Bauer, Patrick Corbin, Brandon Drury (now with the Yankees organization) and Chris Owings, to name a few.

As usual, both parties exchanged pleasantries: “We are excited to extend our affiliation with the Reno Aces, who have been a terrific partner for the last 10 years,” said D-backs Vice President of Player Development Mike Bell. “The Aces ownership, front office, and Reno community provide a Major League facility and player experience that is crucial in the development of our players.”

Eric Edelstein, president of the Reno Aces stated: “The partnership demonstrated by the Diamondbacks with the Aces and the Northern Nevada Community has been second to none. Through ups and downs, Mike Bell and his player development staff have treated Reno with great players, great teams, and great community pride.”

This year, the Aces celebrate its tenth year of existence. Since 2009, the club has been pretty successful as it clinched three division titles, a PCL championship and an overall AAA championship. The club may have hoped to have a better spot in the standings during their anniversary year, but so far the Aces are dead last in their division, trailing the Pacific Northern division leading Fresno Grizzlies by nine games.
