O’s sign another Curaçao talent

The Baltimore Orioles have signed another international prospect form the Isle of Curaçao. J’Rudjeanon Isenia was signed to a $125,000 contract. The contract was agreed on earlier this year but the O’s only announced this Tuesday.

“Isenia is a right-handed-hitting outfielder with above-average tools and a good swing,” said director of player development and interim GM Brian Graham. “He is a very coachable young player who we look forward to developing.”

According to one of the three scouts that scouted J’Rudjeanon, he may develop into a five-tool player although you cannot say that for sure. It all depends on how he will develop.

The 16-year old Isenia isn’t the first player from Curaçao in the Orioles’ organization but so far only Jonathan Schoop has made it to the Bigs. The other players from Curaçao are Sharlon Schoop (Norfolk Tides), Ademar Rifaela (Bowie BaySox) and Kirvin Moesquit (Delmarva ShoreBirds).

Starting the month with a whopping $6.5 million in the international bonus pool, the O’s signed several foreign players. Two Venezuelans, a Cuban, a Dominican next to Isenia to fill their farm system with.

Isenia was scouted by three scouts from the Dutch Kingdom of which one is from the Netherlands, one from Curaçao and one is from Aruba.

It is expected that Isenia will make his first steps in professional baseball in the Dominican Summer League next year.
